چکیده
Within the European project e-SAFE (Energy and Seismic AFfordable rEnovation solutions), this paper presents experimental tests modeling attempts for a class of Asymmetric Friction Connections (AFCs) tested in laboratories Norwegian University Life Sciences. The AFCs are part seismic retrofitting solution, called e-CLT, based on installing Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels reinforced concrete structures using friction connections. authors carried out fixed with screws to CLT panel observe contribution timber total dissipation performance. investigation is 20 cyclic test data two different setups. main one includes screw connection, while second isolates behaviour evaluate influence connection. A modified LuGre hysteresis model developed simulate response specimen. possesses direct physical meaning, it explicitly depends slip force pre-slip stiffness. optimized used assess performance AFC by varying stiffness force.

Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Gas Stations: Case Study
Iran is a country with high seismicity while Tehran, the capital city is home to more than 10 million people which are located on the highest seismic zone of the country. There exist 153 gas stations throughout the metropolitan which are constructed to old building codes with little or no attention to the seismic considerations. In this study which was supported by the National Oil Company, fir...
متن کاملExperimental and Numerical Study of Perforated Steel Plate Shear Panels
Thin perforated Steel Plate Shear (SPS) Walls are among the most common types of energy dissipating systems. The applied holes reduce the shear strength of the plate and allow to decrease the profile size of the members at the boundary of the panel when these systems are used in the typical design of structures. On the other hand, the different fracture locations of these panels are visible whe...
متن کاملMulti-Objective Optimization for Performance-based Seismic Retrofit using Connection Upgrade
The unanticipated brittle fracture of connection of the steel moment resisting frame (SMRF) occurred in 1994 the Northridge earthquake. Since then, the researches for the vulnerability of connection of the existing SMRF and for rehabilitation of those buildings were conducted. This paper suggests performance-based optimal seismic retrofit technique using connection upgrade. For optimal design, ...
متن کاملA Dissipative Connector for CLT Buildings: Concept, Design and Testing
This paper deals with the conception and characterization of an innovative connection for cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels. The connection is designed to provide an adequate level of dissipative capacity to CLT structures also when realized with large horizontal panels and therefore prone to fragile shear sliding failure. The connector, named X-bracket, has been theorized and designed by mea...
متن کاملSeismic Retrofit for Electric Power Systems
This paper develops a two-stage stochastic program and solution procedure to optimize the selection of seismic retrofit strategies to increase the resilience of electric power systems to earthquake hazards. The model explicitly considers the range of earthquake events that are possible and, for each, an approximation to the distribution of damage that is experienced. This is important because e...
